Departing the pier, travel by air-conditioned motor coach through the countryside of Albania for approximately 100 minutes before reaching the main square of Gjirokastra. Here you will board local taxis, which will take you to the gate of the 4th-century fortress. One of the best preserved in Albania, the fortress is perched at the top a hill overlooking the beautiful valley below. Inside you will visit a museum with the history of Gjirokastra. The fortress’s history as an imposing fortification is revealed by its seven protective towers measuring nearly 100 feet tall.
